KBN Helping Hands and Wellness Foundation implements its elderly care interventions through a dedicated Home Care Services for the Elderly Program. The foundation focuses on bringing direct home-based relief to isolated and vulnerable senior citizens in Uganda who lack traditional family support systems.

How we do it

The program is carried out through several core operational components:

Direct home care delivery: The foundation establishes mobile volunteer and staff networks that travel directly to the households of senior citizens. They provide essential assistance with routine, on-medical daily duties that elderly individuals struggle to manage independently due to advanced age or frail health.

Routine health monitoring: Mobile team members perform basic wellness check-ups, assess the living conditions of the seniors and monitor chronic conditions. When specialized interventions are needed, the foundation coordinates referrals to local healthcare partners.

Psychosocial befriending and companionship: Recognizing that loneliness and isolation severely impact senior mental health, KBN uses a community-befriending model. Volunteers spend dedicated time interacting, chatting and providing psychological comfort to abandoned or marginalized elders.

Basic needs and distribution: To alleviate immediate survival burdens and help seniors age with dignity, the program coordinates localized donation drives supplying essential life provisions, including clothes, food items, sanitation products and basic household.
