Helping Children

Educate a child Program

Our vision under ECP is to enable young people in the community to reach their potential and thrive.

How we do it

Once the vulnerable children are identified in the community, our ECP staff provides them with all the necessary support socially, physically and mentally to enable them achieve academic excellence. Educate a child program empowers girls and boys towards the value of education so as to avoid school dropouts, early marriages and early pregnancy. The ECP staff also creates awareness amongst the adult community members about where schools are located to help reinforce the educational skills that the children receive from the Educate a child Program.

This program covers

Career guidance to learners

We help our children to choose the right career path based on their educational and professional choices thus identifying careers that match their skills, interests and personality traits. This helps children to make informed decisions and to develop clear and achievable career goals.

Communication skills

This helps them to connect with others, express empathy, resolve conflicts and establish a supportive network. We help students to develop public speaking skills so as to express their ideas clearly and concisely making it easier for them to participate in class discussions, ask questions and seek help when needed.

HIV/AIDS Awareness

We teach our children to develop and maintain safer behaviors and also to reduce stigma and discrimination towards people affected by and living with HIV We teach them skills to reduce their risk of contracting the disease, make healthy decisions and get treatment and care if needed.

Guidance and counseling

we develop the moral character of students, notice the rise of new trends in school before they escalate or get out of control because students feel more comfortable around our counseling team than teachers and therefore they can open up cases of maltreatment by other students so necessary actions can be taken. This helps to reduce the cases of bullying and social vices in schools..

Personal Hygiene

We help children promote cleanliness and ward off infectious diseases therefore preventing illness and infection from bacteria or virus so as to have better health. We improve a child's self-esteem by teaching him/her to maintain good hygiene because when you take care of how you look you feel better about yourself. Prepare them for adolescence, inform them about the body changes that are experienced during puberty for example we teach girls how to care for themselves during their menstrual periods.

Life coaching & Decision making skills

we equip students with knowledge to deal with a number of common issues therefore helping them to remain mentally healthy and motivated throughout their academic career, educate them to identify problems, analyse potential solutions and select the most suitable course of action. This helps them in making decisions like career path selection, financial management and handling interpersonal conflict.

Our Stories

Woven Together

Nantale Catherine

Peasant Farmer, 58 years old

I am a single mother living in Mukono, Uganda. a breadwinner to my own family having a pair of twins (the first pair of twins are aged 14years and the second pair aged 11years) with their elder brother aged 19years. My husband does not provide anything to his family and therefore I stand alone with my children.

I rent one room with no running water and no electricity and we share mattresses and woven mats with my children down on the muddy dirty floor with a metallic roof.

My children and I work tirelessly to grow enough food to eat, as well as leave some food for sale in order to cover up the bills such as medical care, house rent among others. Due to the financial challenges I face, I was restrained from giving birth to more children through adoption of effective family planning methods and therefore I decided to focus on raising my five children. I have however been able to take all the 5 children to school unfortunately my biggest problem is school fees because I cannot afford to pay all their  school fees, being a single parent living in poverty. In 2023, KBN Helping Hands and Wellness Foundation through their educate a child program chose to support some of my children,Babirye Kate and Nakato Kevin (the second pair of twins) who were enrolled in a private school under their sponsorship program.

During their study in the private school, the traditional subjects taught were a bit challenging to them but they tried to perform fairly well in science subjects and in so many ways they benefited from being at school because they immediately made friends,  they were well fed and cared for at school, learned from devoted teachers and they tried their best to pass their subjects, eventually they had to catch up with the rest of the pupils in class. Under KBN’S  close monitoring and supervision, academically they are progressing and excelling and they are now in primary five thanks to the support of their sponsors through the educate a child Program.

Although still financially constrained, I am a dedicated mother whose aim is to see all my five children making it through school. Enrolling the second pair of twins in a private school through the educate a child program at KBN Helping Hands and Wellness Foundation, has eased the burden and given me an opportunity to embark on the rest of my children.

The path to success and the definition of success for each child is different. Therefore we are proud of Kate and Kevin and we are pleased that the educate a child program has continued to be of great benefit to them. And thank you to all their sponsors and all who support KBN Helping Hands and Wellness Foundation.

Some of the children from Kira church of Uganda Primary school who are enrolled in the educate a child program sharing a good moment with our staff member, Ms. Nabiteeko Brenda.

“Dear KBN Helping Hands and Wellness Foundation we want to take a moment to thank you for sponsoring our education. Your support has played a key role in our academic success and we really appreciate your generosity”, pupils overwhelmingly expressing their gratitude towards their sponsors under the educate a child Program.
